On 16 May, 2011, the Department of State SharePoint Users Group (SPUG) announced the finalists of its annual SPUG SharePoint Awards.  Over 40 Department of State (DoS) sites were nominated for consideration in one of the following three categories: Best Overall Experience, Best Navigation/Structure, and Best Visual Design.  Of these 40 nominations, 8 were products of Buchanan & Edwards’ development, with multiple nominations in each category. 

By way of popular vote, DoS employees elected four Buchanan & Edwards’ solutions for finalist awards.  In the Best Overall Experience category, Buchanan & Edwards received the 2nd place award for its development of the Overseas Building Operations (OBO) Energy and Sustainable Business Unit SharePoint Site.   In the Category of Best Navigation/Structure, Buchanan & Edwards received the 3rd place award for development of the OBO Construction, Facility and Security Management site.   Finally, in the Best Visual Design category, Buchanan & Edwards’ designers were recognized with both a 2nd place award for their design of the Executive Office for the Bureaus of Near Eastern Affairs and South and Central Asian Affairs (NEA-SCA/EX), as well as a 3rd place award for the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) Area Studies Internet Pilot SharePoint Site.
