Buchanan & Edwards announces new partnership with Year Up

Arlington, VA – December 2014 – Buchanan & Edwards (BE) is proud to announce its new partnership with Year Up National Capital Region. Year Up is a one-year IT Workforce Development program that provides underprivileged young adults with the skills, experience and support to help them reach their potential through professional careers and higher education.

Year Up’s program consists of six-month training courses on technical and professional skill building. Students learn technical skills such as data management, coding and troubleshooting; and basic business skills including business writing, public speaking and financial literacy. After completing these classes, students are placed into a six-month internship with one of Year Up’s corporate partners.

Beginning January 2015, BE will host Year Up interns in its IT and Business Operations departments.

“We are excited about our new partnership with Year Up National Capital Region,” said Buchanan & Edwards’ President, Tony Parchment. “We are looking forward to supporting their mission to close the Opportunity Divide by providing our interns with the hands-on experience and skills needed to help them succeed in their professional pursuits.”

BE is committed to working to create a positive impact upon and improve the lives of youth in the local community through its technology expertise, resources and support of STEM education.
